| Extension Photo Shoot | Hair Extensions Reinvented

When I heard that easihair pro was going to be doing a full on photo shoot with Peter Gray in NYC I immediately knew I had to be a part of it.
A chance of a lifetime? Yes! The opportunity to work on a photo shoot of this caliber was not something I was going let pass me by. Peter Gray is a leader in the hair and editorial community. You probably have seen dozens of images that were styled by his magic hands.
I have worked with easihair for almost 7 years. I am a stylist, hair extension expert, and I even shoot video these days. It wasn’t hard to convince easihair pro CEO, Paul Reynolds, to let me tag along.
I would be shooting the behind the scenes video. In addition, I would be converting some of the looks into tutorials for new website: www.easihairpro.com
I arrived in NYC into what would become a whirlwind trip. Once I got checked into the hotel I went directly to the photographers studio, Anthony Friend.
The place was strewn with magazine clippings. Paul and Anthony were brainstorming. I hid behind my new Canon T3i shooting video taking it all in. Peter arrived shortly after and weighed in on what he thought we could achieve.
7:00AM came way too early the next day. Everyone came ready to kick some hair extension butt. The great thing about shooting video in a situation like this is that you get to be a complete and total observer. I got to witness the three ring circus that is a photo shoot first hand.
What many people don’t know is just how much work it takes to pull off a shoot of this caliber. Peter Gray’s team consisted of his 2 assistants and a makeup artist. The wardrobe styling was done by Voltaire Gutierrez and his two assistants. Then there was the Anthony (photographer) Paul, the model and myself. That's a lot of peeps in a 1,200 sqft space!
It was decided that the shoot would focus on the many looks that can be achieved with hair extensions. Length is always the first thing that people think of when they hear hair extensions.
The shoot would embrace that idea and in addition showcase how hair extensions could help achieve volume. Hair extensions have the ability to amplify your beauty. Peter wanted to create several looks on the same model showcasing they many ways hair extensions can be used.
Both days of the shoot started off with Peter and team prepping the models hair. Peter Gray and Team applying easilengths tape hair extensions to the models hair.
On average, he used about 30% more than a regular length application. It takes a bit more hair for it to show up on film properly.
The entire team pushed themselves to the max. Each day consisted of almost 18 hours of work. I like to call this the Peter Gray affect. The man has a never ending supply of energy and creativity. I always ask myself, “What would Peter Gray do?”. The answer: at least two more looks.
Some of the best shots were caught after Peter pushed the team for just one more look.
Beautiful clothes and accessories are always a must for a photo shoot. Paul hired renowned Voltaire Gutierrez to pull together looks inspired my Peter’s hair creations. Voltaire and team had perfect taste and an eye for detail that resonated in the photos.
Anthony Friend was the crazy talented New York Photographer capturing the looks the team created. The way he lit the photos really captured the look and feel the easihair pro was going for. Anthony has a knack for capturing the exact second that make a photo beyond amazing.
When the first photo’s started showing up on the computer screen I knew we were creating greatness. It took me several days after to fully process what had been created. The team had high expectations. Those expectations were blown out of the water.
I had a minute to speak with Paul after the shoot was wrapped in a cab back to the hotel. There was a electric sense of excitement in the air. I knew at that moment that easihair pro would be forever changed. The new images would demand nothing less than excellence from the easihair pro team because they would be speaking to only the best hairdressers and salons.
Paul text me while I was waiting on my plane at LaGuardia, “Thanks for all your hard work. U rock Boxman!”. Boarding my plane I felt pride for the work that was achieved for easihair pro. I have always known that easihair was different than any other hair extension company out there. It is a company with heart, passion, and soul. The coolest thing about that? I get to be a part of it everyday!
