| Do it Like an easihair Expert | Summer Extension Tips
DR Hanson
June 14, 2012
Some things never change. Your mother can always make you feel better when you’re sick and you can always count on your father to refuse to go see a doctor about, well, probably anything.
And just like we anticipated the bell ringing on the last day of school, we always look forward to summer. To the BBQing, the swimming, and all the activity that follows the sun from rising to setting, even in all this heat.
Next Wednesday June 20th marks the first official day of summer. Are you ready? The bells about to ring! If not, fear not. For I bring you good tidings of great joy…for easihair users.
I’ve reached out to The Beauty Box Salon, an easihair focused salon in Dallas known for making the women of Dallas beautiful using easihair professionals line of easilengths extensions. Salon Owner Christopher Box and Stylist Sonia Isaguirre were kind enough to sit down with me and tell me this summer’s Must Follow Hair Care Tips for tape in extension wearers.
Chris and Sonia were so thorough and knowledgeable that these interviews had to be broken into a three part series so be sure to check back and catch all the need to know information these experts are serving up.
Part I – “One Type of Lady” with Christopher Box
DR: Thanks for taking the time to meet with me and share some summer tips!
Chris : Of course! I love to educate.
DR: Then let’s start educating! Can you swim thirty minutes after getting easilengths extensions applied?
Chris: No, and I’ll tell you why-
DR: That was kinda a joke…
Chris: I know, but it is summer and people want to swim but there are some major concerns when swimming with hair extensions.
DR: Can you give me an example?
Chris: Of course. Hair, even extensions, is like a sponge so when you swim in a pool or the ocean your hair is absorbing all that chlorine or salt and when you get out the sun just starts to bake all those chemicals and unnatural elements into your hair.
DR: Ewwww. I never thought of it like that. How can we avoid baking a nasty hair cake?
Chris: Don’t swim (Laughs). But let’s be honest, ladies gonna swim. And in my experience I’ve come across 2 types of ladies.
DR: Only two (chuckles)?
Chris: That I can talk about in an interview setting, yes (laughs). First is the Recreational Swimmer. This lady is fine to wear extensions at the pool or beach but only if she does some important prep work before heading out.
DR: Like what?
Chris: First she should use a spray/leave in conditioner on her hair. Keep the conditioner away from the roots, about 2/3 inches. A good rule of thumb is to pull your hair into a pony tail and only condition the hair below the bunch or hair tie, the tail of the pony tail. Now after she applies the leave in conditioner, I suggest she pull her hair into a loose ponytail or loose braid. After that, she’s ready to sip her mimosa by the pool or take a little dip in the ocean. But again she’s a recreational swimmers so don’t spend too much time in the water.
DR: And when she’s ready to lounge again, any post water tips?
Chris: Yep. I recommend rinsing the hair out with water just to get as much chlorine or salt out as possible.
DR: That’s it?
Chris: Yes, after that she should have a nice beach wave going with her hair and is ready to continue her afternoon. If she has time after getting out or is headed to an event after swimming, I suggest conditioning the hair again and blow drying. Especially when wearing easilengths. Blow drying will help re-activate the adhesive part of the tape which will help keep the extensions in longer.
Tune in next week for Part II - "The Other Type of Lady" with Christopher Box
