Dos & Don’ts of Tape in Extensions

Dos & Don’ts of Tape in Extensions

easiLengths tape in hair extensions can give you the length and volume that you have always desired, without the hassle of having to grow out your hair. However, with this luxury comes the responsibility of committing to extra maintenance, but we promise it’s nothing that you can’t handle. Properly taking care of your extensions will not only make them look and feel brand new, but they will last longer. Follow these simple dos and don’ts to find out exactly how!

DO

Go to a certified stylist: All easihair pro stylists must be certified before applying easiLengths tape in extensions. Education not only ensures that our stylists are professional and knowledgeable, but clients can also feel at ease that they are in good hands.

Use recommended products: After your first appointment, your stylist should notify you of the correct products to use. We offer all the core products that you need including a Daily Shampoo, Leave-in Conditioner, Heat Treat+Shine thermal protectant, and Wet Dry Detangling Brush. Using the appropriate products will not only prevent your extensions from slipping but also prolong the life and quality of your extensions.

Brush your hair at least three times a day: Brushing your hair consistently throughout the day will prevent tangles from forming. Also, using our Wet Dry Detangling Brush will add shine and softness back into your hair, without tugging or pulling at the base of your extensions.

Prepare your hair for hot tools: Before using any hot tools it’s important to prepare your hair to protect it from any thermal damage. We recommend using our Heat Treat + Shine, which will protect your hair as well as add shine.

DON’T

Shower within 48 hours after an application: This step is especially important because the bond needs time to adhere to your hair. If you shower, swim, or excessively sweat within the first 48 hours of an application, you run the risk of your extensions slipping.

Use any silicone or oil based products: Here is another culprit for slipping hair extensions. If you use any hair oils or moisturizing products, make sure to apply from the mid-shaft down and not anywhere near the base of the panels.

Color your extensions: If you are unable to find a perfect match from our 29 colors, do not attempt to color your extensions. Always seek the help from one of our licensed professionals, who will be able to color your extensions correctly and safely.
