Styling with Tape In Hair Extensions: Braided Bun

Women With Nicely Styled Hair That Has Tape In Extensions-2-18

Braids are the perfect combination of romantic and sophisticated. Never are they more beautiful than when wrapped in a loose bun. However, many women cannot achieve the look of a full beautiful braided bun without the help of tape in hair extensions. This look is perfect for any wedding or special occasion that your client could be attending.

How to Create a Braided Bun with Tape In Hair Extensions

Follow our basic guide to get this look beautiful hairstyle for any client.

1. Apply the Tape In Hair Extensions

The application should be done at least 2 days before the rest of the hairstyle is created. This will ensure that the adhesive fully cures before you do the rest of the styling. If your client cannot come in before the styling appointment you can create the same effect with clip in hair extensions which can be applied right before the hair is styled.

2. Use a Texturizing Spray

This hairstyle is done best with 2nd-day hair so that the hair will have enough texture. (If your client had applied the tape in hair extensions exactly 2 days before they could not have washed their hair anyway) If you feel the hair is too oily, you can use a dry shampoo to revitalize it. If the hair is too clean, use a texturizing spray to make it easier to work with.

3. Curl The Hair and Pin It

Spray some Heat, Treat + Shine onto the hair and curl the hair in the traditional pattern with a medium width barrel curling iron. Pin the curls. Allow the curls to cool before pulling the pins out.

4.  Create a Side Part and Backcomb Hair

Create a loose side part. Lightly backcomb the hair around the part to add some volume. Comb the top of the hair so that it is smooth.

5. Twist Hair Around Face

Start with hair around the temples and begin twisting it. Keep pulling hair close to the face into the twist. Pin the twists at the nape of the neck.

6. Separate Hair into 2 Sections and Create Fishtail Braids

Lightly separate the hair into 2 equal sections. You should not see a part in the hair. Fishtail braid each section and tie off with a clear elastic. Loosen up the braid by pulling at each strand. You can make the look even more romantic by pulling some individual pieces of hair out.

6. Create a Knot and Pin in Place

Knot the 2 braids together. If the hair is long enough, create a double knot. Then begin to pin the knot above the nape of the neck. Hide the ends of the braids behind the bun. Make sure that the bun is very secure and will not fall out. Finish the look with a strong hold hairspray.
