Dos and Don’ts of Tape In Hair Extensions Maintenance

Go through all of these dos and don’ts with your clients to make sure that they are properly maintaining their tape in hair extensions.

Don’t: Wash Hair Within 2 Days of Application

It’s important that you do not wash your hair within 2 days of application. This will cause the hair extensions to slip and they will need to be reapplied.

Do: Wash Your Hair Regularly

After the 2 days, it’s important to wash your hair regularly. Naturally oily hair can cause the hair extensions to slip. If you do not have time to jump in the shower. Use a dry shampoo so that the hair remains clean.

Don’t: Use “Hydrating” Shampoos & Conditioners

When you use these shampoos and conditioners, it can affect the adhesive which can lead to slippage. This means that your clients may be coming into the salon more often for professional maintenance.

Do: Use the Right Hair Products & Accessories

Don’t: Forget to Brush

You need to be brushing your hair 2-3 times a day to make sure that the hair extensions do not become tangled or matted.

Do: Brush with a Brush Designed for Hair Extensions
